Operation Lifesaver Estonia Annual Report 2012
students of Haapsalu College of Tallinn University:
lii Erma and Aire Tammik. My role as the instructor of
their papers was both challenging and interesting.
At the defence of the papers it was obvious that the
topic discussed was interesting and the results of
observations quite surprising for some people in
the audience. It became clear that the behaviour of
road users at railway level crossings and pedestrian
crossings is quite unpredictable and risky. I was
glad that Lii and Aire chose railway safety to be
the topic of their graduation papers, contributed
to identifying the current situation in Estonia
and increased awareness about these issues. The
graduation papers are discussed in more detail in
the following parts of this annual report. Those
interested in getting a copy of the papers are most
welcome to contact me.
Now when the new year has started, I look back at
the previous year with great satisfaction. I would
like to thank all of those who have given their
contribution to this success. I am grateful to all
the participants of our training courses for making
learning so interesting, as well to all our new and
experienced volunteers who have found time to
deal with railway safety in addition to their daily
activities. If you feel that you would like to join us
then I would be happy to meet you at one of our
following presenters’ courses. Let us continue in the
new year with the same good momentum!
