Railway Safety in Estonia -
53
- Annual Report 2011
often happens that if we ask our regular questions like
”How long is freight train’s braking distance?” or ”What
does the white light mean in level crossing signals?” then
we get an answer in a couple of seconds. It is also heart
warming to meet our young friends from schools located
in the more distant areas who already know who we are
and introduce us to their friends as people coming to talk
about railway safety.
Traditionally, OLE was involved in the KEAT project for
schoolchildren organised by the Rescue Board. This event
takes place in different places and last year our tent was
set up in Harju, Järva and Pärnu counties.
I am glad to see that people are becoming more aware
of the dangers related to railways and OLE is more and
more involved in the teams organising public events,
safety camps and other projects.
We had an exiting year full of progress, which makes you
smile when you think back to it. This is what gives you
strength and motivates to move forward at the same
pace.
