Railway safety campaign “Let the Train Pass! You are Expected Home for Christmas” on 13-24 December 2010
"Each day children expect their parents to come home. You can feel comfortable and safe only if all the family members are present. There will be a day when children start their own family. Time passes and their children will be expecting them home and the cycle starts again. And this is wonderful."
Each year there are quite a few people who lose their lives on railway tracks. For us these people are not just numbers from the statistics but real people and the real grief and pain of their close ones. This pain gets even bigger if we look into the reasons for which the railway accidents took place. Getting hit by a train or driving on its way cannot be compared with lightning or earthquake. In most of the cases these traffic accidents have been caused by negligence that could be prevented by people themselves. There is not much needed – you should just dedicate more time to crossing railway.
In order to remind to both motor vehicle drivers and pedestrians the dangers present on railway tracks, non-profit organisation Operation Lifesaver Estonia (OLE) organises on 13-24 December 2010 a railway safety campaign with the slogan “Let the Train Pass! You are Expected Home for Christmas.” Christmas is the time when all the people pay more attention to their families and friends and wish to meet them, however short this meeting could be. They do that to show that they care and just to wish each other Merry Christmas! OLE wants its campaign to play a part in making sure that all Christmas greetings reach their addressees.
During the safety campaign are published the advertising materials prepared by OLE where the main characters are a brother and sister longing for their daddy to come home. And dad is coming home, as he has dedicated enough time for crossing railway. The TV clip is supported by a radio commercial broadcasted by all Estonian radio stations, posters on the streets and ads in printed media. OLE will also continue with its railway safety presentations in schools.
Wishing you safe Christmas!
